Sociology Department Undergraduate Programs

Give to SPU

The Department of Sociology and its students benefit greatly from the generosity of donors committed to maintaining the high quality of our programs. There are several ways you can support our students in the sociology and criminal justice majors, as they learn sociological skills and perspectives to prepare them to lead lives of faithful service and leadership.

Giving Priorities

C. Melvin Foreman Scholarship: Established as a memorial to C. Melvin Foreman in recognition of devotion to Christ-centered education and the influence he made on student's lives, the C. Melvin Foreman Scholarship is awarded to serious-minded and spiritually-sensitive students in sociology and criminal justice.

Kenneth D. Tollefson Scholarship: Established to honor Kenneth D. Tollefson's scholarship and work with racially and ethnically diverse students and populations, as well as for his thirty years of service to Seattle Pacific University, the Tollefson Scholarship is awarded to racial/ethnic minority students majoring in the area of sociology and criminal justice.

Sociology Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE): This program enables senior Sociology students to present their original research at the annual meeting of the Pacific Sociological Association (PSA). Gifts designated to SURE will support students' participation by helping to cover costs of PSA student membership fees, conference registration fees, travel and lodging.  Visit the SURE homepage for more information.
